Meet Captain George!

Captain George!

Not many people can say they have worked for King Abdullah of Jordan!

George Evans, Captain of Silver Thatch Charters, spent four years in Aquaba travelling with King Abdullah and ten of Jordan’s royal families orchestrating all of their watersports experiences.  Whether it was scuba diving, wake boarding, tubing, or fishing, George was their guide as well as their instructor.  He even led them on a shark diving adventure in South Africa!

“I was born in Australia and have a passion for traveling and diving,” states George in his friendly Australian accent.

“I have worked in Australia, the Spanish island of Lanzarote which is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, Jordan, and, of course, Grand Cayman,” he adds.

George has expert knowledge of the Grand Cayman waters as well as its ocean life and is one of the best captains on the island for taking care of guests and ensuring their experiences are memorable.  George is great at avoiding the cruise ship snorkelers and other large groups.  He takes guests to the more pristine snorkel spots closer to Rum Point Reef where they have the reef all to themselves.  His  guests set the pace. There’s never a rush.  Most importantly, their safety is his main concern.

As you can see, he’s also great with even the smallest of sailors!

What does George do when he isn’t taking care of Silver Thatch guests?

“I have a beautiful crazy 3 year old daughter who keeps me busy out of work hours,” laughs George.

Silver Thatch Charters offers morning and afternoon snorkel tours, swimming with the stingrays, and evening dinner services across the North Sound to Calypso Grill Restaurant in Morgan’s Harbor or Camana Bay. After dinner, its a relaxing cruise back across the Sound, under the stars and the caribbean breezes, and perhaps even a nightcap at the Kaibo Upstairs.
