Sea Grape - Rum Point
Sea Grape Villa is directly oceanfront in Rum Point on the north coast. This large, one-story villa offers a cozy beach house atmosphere, oceanfront pool, and a sandy beach with plenty of palm trees, a hammock, and a thatched gazebo. The beachfront is perfect for long walks in any direction, and while pool shoes/fins are required for swimming, the marine environment makes for fantastic encounters with the sea life when snorkeling!
Sea Grape is a wonderful, homey vacation villa: no pretense or fancy marble floors, Sea Grape is a large, roomy beach house in Grand Cayman for a reasonable rate. If sandy little feet run into the house, we have a broom...no worries.

The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east, so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming.
Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear pool shoes or fins for foot protection. The prevailing trade winds from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch. The big draw to this area is the proximity to the Rum Point Club, a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach, many watersports, a restaurant bar and grill, a gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina.
Lastly, we have 2 large resorts in the east end (Morritts and The Reef) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, a Subway sandwich shop, and cafe/pastry shop. These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfering, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service.

The house was wonderful with a great view of the ocean and a private beach and pool. The only down fall was we had high winds the first few days and there was a lot of seaweed and debris on the private beach. The Family thoroughly enjoyed the house and all the amenities that come with it. A very spacious house with plenty of privacy and only minutes from Rum Point.
We are glad you enjoyed the home. Tough to control Mother Nature. We rake all beaches before guests arrive. It was just a tough weather week with the winds coming from the North. Please come back soon! --Scott

The property is located in a beautiful setting and is very spacious. The accommodations were perfect for our party of 8. We were convenient to Rum Point, Starfish Point and Kaibo. The excursions from Red Sail were great and we especially enjoyed our private charter with George at Silver Thatch Charters and interacting with the stingrays. We also ventured to Compass Point and tried out Lion Fish Tacos at Eagle Ray’s Bar and Grill. The conch fritters were the best I have ever tasted and the Lion Fish was also very good. We also snorkeled directly behind the Sea Grape. It was fine after getting past the turtle grass. I do recommend picking a calm day if you choose to do this. Beverly Whitaker was very hospitable and was there to answer any questions. Would definitely recommend this property to others.

Loved the Sea Grape! Lots of room and incredible views. The snorkeling off the beach was wonderful, but be careful. At the outer reef about 2 houses to your left as you are looking out from the house the current can get strong and pull you out if you are not careful. We had a group of 7 adults and at the end of the trip we had a unanimous vote that we would come back to this same house again.

When you first drive up its just "well okay". Then you open the door and go inside. The views and size of this place is fantastic. As soon as you enter the dining area you just are amazed. I did notice dare and tear on the furniture. There are some things needing updating. Back door is hard to close. The brown border at the pool that was added takes away from view. Railings have loosened. But....I went for the beach and view. And that the best. Very close to run point is a plus. And Leslie is just the best. He is a treasure. I would recommend anyone to this property. I hope to return as soon as possible.

House was clean and spacious, and had plenty of room for the 10 of us family members. Not high quality finishing's but we weren't there to hang out in the house. BUT the beach was the best around. Great snorkeling just off the back patio, pool was nice to cool off in when you were done with the ocean. Loved it.

Our group was made up of friends since youth and we love just being together. The view from the living/kitchen area each morning was amazing. We also enjoyed the thatched hut and secluded beach. Having the separate den area with the Ping pong table provided lots of entertainment for the guys (though it needs some work or possibly replaced) they improvised to get it leveled where there was a split across the top, they had fun. Some updating in the bedrooms and bathrooms would be good. However the overall experience was one we all agreed was very successful and want to do this again. The area of Rum Point was less populated and we liked that and felt very safe. We spent time at Rum Point and Kiabo. Found a good little resturant called Over the Edge that we liked a lot and it was just down the road so we had a couple of breakfasts there, dinner and watched sports one afternoon. We all had a fantastic time in the Caymans.

The house was plenty big enough for our 2 families (we had 9 total). The house itself could use some updating, but it was overall a very nice and comfortable place to stay. I would definitely go back with my family. Now, the outside pool, beach and view were drop dead gorgeous. The deck and pool were wonderful, but the beach, hammock and all the palm trees were the most picturesque that we saw anywhere. Also, the snorkeling just in the backyard was amazing! There were so many coral reefs and fish that we spent hours out there. It was also great for younger kids b/c you could stand and take a breathe. We saw stingrays, starfish and even a nurse shark on our adventures. We snorkeled many places on the island and what was in our backyard was just as great as anything else on the island. The best part is there were no crowds...just our family/friends which was amazing. I would say the only issue we had was one of the showers (master in the back) wasn't that warm, but we had 3 others to choose from so we just showered in one of those. So not really any issues at all. I would definetly recommend this house to anyone looking for peace and quite, great snorkeling and one of the best views on the island. I would highly recommend Smith Cove, Govenors Beach, Rum Point and Stingray City for things to do. We had a blast. We also ate great and would highly recommend Duke's Seafood & Rib Shack (downtown just down from the Westin hotel) they had the best all you can eat BBQ buffet we had ever eaten! Even my 10 year old "picky eater" said that the 'flat iron stake was the best thing she had ever eaten"!!! We also ate at the Italian restaurant in Georgetown called Cassanova's which was absolutely amazing!!! However, if you know and just enjoy the amazing food it is SO worth the visit. I would also recommend stopping and eating at one of the roadside jerk stands...great local Cayman food.

Very kid friendly, older but nice furnature so you dont have to worry about damaging anything. Exterior locks to outside just difficult enough that the little ones can't escape without you knowing about it. Perfect location away from 7 mile crowds. Spacious, superb view, perfect beach area, snorkeling in front of house was good too. This is a great house for families with kids. Barbara, the house manager went above and beyond for us. Love this place !!

We knew arriving the front of the house wasn't much, opened the door to spacish living quarters, many patios a pool and a beautiful beach! We all were in heaven. Never felt like we were cramped or in each others way and there was 8 of us! We had a relaxing week and all loved it. Went to Rum Point a few times (always a good time), took a boat excursion out of Kaibo Marina and ate dinner there once as well. Found a great spot to shop in George Town - Cost You Less...worth the drive!!! Especially if you have 8 people. Went to Moritz a few times for evening fun and day fun. Kitchen and BBQ worked out perfect. Oven was small but we managed perfect. Had a small issue with outdoor lighting, called and next day repair man was there to fix! I would definetly recommend Sea Grape for a large group that wants to relax and have a good time! Was one of the best vacatoins our entire family has had in several years! Thank you

Parents/grandparents (us), three adult children, two with spouses, 8 year old twins, 5 year old and a 7 month old, all had own bedrooms and bathroom. All bedrooms are large as are the bathrooms There is a pack and play on site and plenty of sitting areas where people do not have to crowd together. The private beach is very large, the pool great for all. Easy driving to Rum Point where we snorkeled, hung out on beach and ate out. We had two cars and explored the whole island seeing the attractions and beaches, restaurants. Kitchen is well equipped and there is an outside grill. This is a go back to villa. The area is not crowded like 7 mile, yet easy to get to for the shopping on non cruise ship days. The villa is very clean and well equipped. We stayed the end of June and beginning of July and only had one partially rainy day. We came in two groups, and the NY group had a later leaving flight than our late morning flight home to D.C. the owner let our daughters, spouse and baby have a late check out since their flight did not leave until 4:00 p.m.

Our family of five and mother-in-law stayed at this home in June for a week. The home has plenty of room. The view, pool and beach were exceptional. The gazebo, outdoor furniture, hammock were great. I wish the access to the reef to snorkel did not include having to go through so much seaweed. We all enjoyed the ping-pong and air hockey table. We enjoyed the location - seven mile beach was very crowded. We liked Rum Point, Kaibo Yacht club area, and 'Over the Edge' restaurant that were all near the house. The ice maker was not working and there was no large oven (however, toaster oven worked okay for us). A lot of the lamps around the house were not plugged in or working.

Our family of 10 stayed at the Sea Grape recently. The house was exactly as advertised. It was a great value and the size was perfect. There was more than enough room for everyone. You will need a car if staying at this villa although a bit of a hike to Seven Mile beach, there are still enjoyable activities and entertainment close by at Kaibo Beach. We really enjoyed our stay. I would also recommend Jenny from Beach House Butlers. She went above an beyond for us. She prestocked our villa and also set us up for a great boating adventure with Captain allen and his boat Trouble. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend this trip.

Sea grape is very spacious. The spaciousness ofvthe Villa and the snorkeling are the highlights of Sea Grape. The snorkeling is better than anything on/near 7MB. We snorkled a couple of the "best spots" (Smith cove & Cemetary beach), and they were poor compared to Sea Grape. The villa is well equiped for fun outdoors. We made use of the grill, pool, beach and volleyball net in the backyard. We enjoyed peaceful jogs out toward the North Point Beach before the heat of the day. The Villa is marginally maintained. If cleanliness and having everything function perfectly are high on your list, this place might not meet your standards. None-the-less, I was pleased by the responsiveness of the owner; we called on our second day there with a couple of requests (TV connectivity, plumbing issue) and the issues were promptly addressed. The pool patio is surrounded by beautiful greenery which creates a great feel but also makes keeping the pool clean a challenge. The owner leaves the vacuum equipment right by the pool, and I did not mind vacuuming it myself a couple times over the ten days we were there. Others might not want to do this This is a very peaceful "retreat" 50 minutes drive from "all the hustle & bustle", including the grocery stores, most of the better restaurants, and more popular beaches on the island. We found a nice routine was to enjoy the morning piece and quiet around the Villa in morning, and then travel to tourist activities on the West side in afternoon, enjoy an early dinner at really nice restaurants before heading back to Sea Grape in the evening. The public shower facilities at 7MB helped make this easy. This routine let us stop at the grocery store on the way back to the Villa. Our fav food was at Calypso Grill, Ragazzi, & Casanova. Chicken!Chicken! is very good for a unique and flavorful lunch: try the wood-fired house specialty. Our tourist highlights were kayaking in the mangroves and sailing out to Stingray City. We are not divers.
