Heritage House is a two-story beachfront home located in Rum Point along the north coast.  The most notable feature of this home is the two-story full-length double-porch facing the ocean.  The second-floor veranda is shaded and furnished with a sectional sofa, rocking chairs and a small end tables perfect for lounging.  The lower level has 2 full-size outdoor dining tables with seating for 10-12 guests.  The views from the porch are amazing and not to be missed.

A freshwater pool and sun deck is on the land-side of the villa, protecting guests from the prevailing breezes in the winter.  Pool heat is available for a weekly surcharge ($250) to ensure the water is always inviting no matter the time of year.  Plenty of lounge chairs surround the pool plus a propane grill for cookouts.

Inside, the open floor plan is perfectly inviting after a day on the beach, with enough space for the whole family to unwind and relax.  Spectacular ocean views flood the living area which comes furnished with plush comfortable sofas and a large flat screen TV.  A full modern kitchen comes equipped with standard appliances including dishware, utensils, glassware, cookware, and cutlery.

Heritage House sleeps 10 guests comfortably across 4-bedrooms and a sleeper sofa (for children only) in the upstairs den.  The first floor master king suite with en-suite bath opens onto the first floor porch and living room.  A second king suite with en-suite bath is located on the upper floor and opens onto the covered veranda overlooking the ocean.  2 queen suites are also on the upper floor towards the front of the house overlooking the pool.

Beach Notes

The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east, so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming. Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear foot protection (pool shoes or fins). The prevailing trade winds from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch.

The big draw to this area is the proximity to the Rum Point Club, a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach, many watersports, a restaurant bar & grill, a gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina

Lastly, we have 2 large resorts in the east end (Morritt's and The Reef) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, a Subway sandwich shop, and a cafe/pastry shop. These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfing, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service.

The house is located in easy walking distance to Rum Point and a short bike ride or car (~2 miles) from Star Fish Point. Having the pool on the front of the house means it gets afternoon sun and is out of the breeze. This is a well appointed home and easy to stay in.

Great last minute trip!

We had a great time at Heritage House. House is much nicer than the pictures..and the greatest appeal was the snorkeling right off the beach. Not a great beach to play on, but we were just a few houses from Rum Point and spent early afternoons there, then returned to our beach to snorkel. Water shoes would be nice, but we managed without and did just fine. Water was so clear and warm and the sealife was so spectacular! ( could have used an extra layer of sunscreen on the back !)Very quiet in August, but loved it! And the weather was great! A few storms came through but they never seemed to last long. We had a car and had originally planned to take advantage of the seven mile beach area, but found that we were happier just hanging around Rum Point! Used the Gym in Savannah and found that to be really nice as well. Kitchen had everything we needed 🙂 Beds and couches were VERY comfy. Only thing we would change is the length of the stay.. Definitely would add on a few days. Really amazing effort by the management team to get us in on 1 day's notice.. ( yes, truly) To the owners: Thanks for allowing us to stay in your home!!

Manager Response:

So glad it worked. Glad we could get all the moving parts together for your trip! Please come again!

My family of 6 had an outstanding time staying at Heritage House. It was always breath taking to look out our balcony and see the gorgeous ocean, sunrise to sunset! The house is well stocked, ultra-fast internet, and has great amenities! One of the best family vacations that we have had!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Heritage House for a week at the end of april/beginning of May. The house is not centrally located to the the main part of the island, it is beautifully secluded on the North End of the island. We were within walking distance of Rum Point plus we could snorkel right off the beach at Heritage House. We traveled with our three adult children and their spouse or significant other. There were 8 adults in the house. Plenty of room for all of us. We would go back to Heritage House in a heartbeat. The pool out front was a plus. The weather was beautiful and the amenities were spectacular.

We had 2 families of 5 staying in Heritage House. The space was very accommodating for our group. The house was great - the 2 verandas overlooking the beautiful ocean were our favorite places to hang out. The Master bedroom on the main floor would be better with improved lighting in the bathroom & shower. The snorkeling behind the house was unbelievable. We were fortunate to have calm seas and winds the first half of our stay. We saw an array of fish, including a barracuda and sea ray. The second half, strong winds kicked in and we were unable to snorkel with any success. The advice to have water shoes was good - you cannot walk into the ocean with bare feet. Though if you plan to only snorkel, the fins work fine. The beach had some rocky, coral spots but plenty of sand for the kids to play as well. The pool was a big hit with our 6 kids. The location is a bit distant from most things on the island - which has its pros and cons, so it just depends on whether you want to be close to lots of activities or stay put. There are 4-5 decent restaurants within a 5-20 minute drive. We highly recommend Kaibo Upstairs, which is a mile down the road - high end meal, but perhaps one of the best dinners we have ever had!

We spent a wonderful week at the Heritage house and couldn't be more pleased. We arrived at the appointed check in time and the ladies were just completing their cleaning process, they do a great job. The house is well appointed as far as cookery and basic essentials. Rum point is literally a 5 minute walk down the road. The food at the restaurant is excellent, the bartenders were very attentive and a heavy pour which is ideal. The kids enjoyed the beach but also utilized the pool almost everyday. The snorkeling off the back is excellent, we encountered sea turtles, a lovely barracuda and copious other sea life. We enjoyed meals at the lighthouse, kaibo upstairs ( excellent rum selections) also. Beware that when the cruise ships are in town Wednesday and Thursday when we were there things are a little hectic. I definitely advise enjoying stingray city and the barrier reef on days when the ships are not in port. The coral gardens is an excellent snorkel spot, the moray eel is amazing. All together we had an amazing visit, the house was perfect for us and we would definitely recommend it. Maybe I shouldn't say that so it's available the next time we come down. One item to note, definitely bring water shoes, lots of rocks off the back of the house, not an issue unless you don't have water shoes.

Heritage House is set in a quiet spot with beautiful snorkeling on its beach. The House itself is clean and easy to manage. The first floor porch is wonderful for meals when the wind is not blowing fiercely. If you want a more festive beach Rum Point is an easy walk.

Grand Cayman Heritage House

The Heritage House was amazing! My husband, myself and another couple stayed at the Heritage House. The two master suites on separate floors worked out perfect for privacy. The pool on the road side of the house was a great addition to our enjoyment The beach in front of the villa was raked and clean the day we arrived and was cleaned halfway through our visit. Turtle grass and debris does wash up on this side of the island but we had no problems with it in front of the Heritage House. There were a couple of villas along the beach that no one was staying in and there was quite a bit of debris washed up on their beach. Not horrible but it did take away from the beauty of the area. Too bad the owners in that area can't start an association to clean the beaches. My husband and I snorkeled right off the beach in front of the villa. It was the best snorkeling I have ever done. We saw Sea Turtles, a Moray Eel, a Barracuda, and lots of other beautiful fish and coral. There are quite a few restaurants within a short distance of the villa, Rum Point Bar and Rum Point Restaurant (walking distance), Over the Edge (less than five miles), Kaibo Yacht Club (less than a mile), and my personal favorite is The Lighthouse Restaurant (about 10 miles). I highly recommend that you visit Starfish Point. We saw about ten starfish in knee deep water. We loved our stay at Heritage House and plan to return with our kids and their families.
