4/5BR-Heritage House - Cayman Kai

4 BR | 4 BA | Sleeps 10

4BR and Den/4BA Heritage House
is directly on the oceanfront in Rum Point on the north coast. With excellent snorkeling just steps from the unique, two-story full-length back porch, a sizable, sandy beach, and a large freshwater pool, Heritage House has plenty to offer. The open, sunny floor plan is perfectly inviting after a day on the beach, with enough space for the whole family to relax. The house location offers oceanfront location, but is a short 300 yard walk to the west-facing Rum Point Club in case of breeze or waves.

Heritage House’s Unique Features:

  • The most notable feature of Heritage House is the two-story full-length double-porch. The second-floor oceanfront veranda is covered and filled with a sectional sofa, chairs and small table for cocktail hour or just curling up with a good book. The lower level has (2) full-size outdoor dining tables, so up 10-12 guests can dine while enjoying the sea breeze.
  • Just a short walk from Heritage House lies the Rum Point Club, so guests can pop out anytime for watersports, drinks, lunch or dinner. 5 minutes longer walk to the Kaibo Yacht Club
  • The freshwater pool is on the land-side of the villa, meaning that it’s protected from the prevailing breezes in winter; pool heat is available as well, so the water is always sure to be inviting, no matter the time of year.
  • Lounge chairs and a propane grill surround the pool for relaxing or evening cookouts.
  • Heritage House has bright, welcoming interiors with sea views from the comfortable living room. Large TV is located in the living area.
  • The fully modern kitchen offers all the standard appliances, dishware, cookware, and cutlery.
  • First floor master King suite opens onto the first floor screened porch and the living room
  • Second floor master King suite and TV Room/Den with pull-out sofa (for children only) both open onto the second floor covered verandah; the two Queen suites are at the front of the house.
  • Excellent snorkeling just steps from the back door—a healthy marine environment awaits, so we ask that you wear pool shoes or fins when you go exploring!
  • Central A/C
  • Free WiFi
  • Stereo
  • Linens, towels and beach towels provided
  • Plenty of off-street parking

Accommodates up to 10 people (8 adults max.); Excellent family or 2/3/4-couple villa.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Heritage House for a week at the end of april/beginning of May. The house is not centrally located to the the main part of the island, it is beautifully secluded on the North End of the island. We were within walking distance of Rum Point plus we could snorkel right off the beach at Heritage House. We traveled with our three adult children and their spouse or significant other. There were 8 adults in the house. Plenty of room for all of us. We would go back to Heritage House in a heartbeat. The pool out front was a plus. The weather was beautiful and the amenities were spectacular.

We had 2 families of 5 staying in Heritage House. The space was very accommodating for our group. The house was great - the 2 verandas overlooking the beautiful ocean were our favorite places to hang out. The Master bedroom on the main floor would be better with improved lighting in the bathroom & shower. The snorkeling behind the house was unbelievable. We were fortunate to have calm seas and winds the first half of our stay. We saw an array of fish, including a barracuda and sea ray. The second half, strong winds kicked in and we were unable to snorkel with any success. The advice to have water shoes was good - you cannot walk into the ocean with bare feet. Though if you plan to only snorkel, the fins work fine. The beach had some rocky, coral spots but plenty of sand for the kids to play as well. The pool was a big hit with our 6 kids. The location is a bit distant from most things on the island - which has its pros and cons, so it just depends on whether you want to be close to lots of activities or stay put. There are 4-5 decent restaurants within a 5-20 minute drive. We highly recommend Kaibo Upstairs, which is a mile down the road - high end meal, but perhaps one of the best dinners we have ever had!

We spent a wonderful week at the Heritage house and couldn't be more pleased. We arrived at the appointed check in time and the ladies were just completing their cleaning process, they do a great job. The house is well appointed as far as cookery and basic essentials. Rum point is literally a 5 minute walk down the road. The food at the restaurant is excellent, the bartenders were very attentive and a heavy pour which is ideal. The kids enjoyed the beach but also utilized the pool almost everyday. The snorkeling off the back is excellent, we encountered sea turtles, a lovely barracuda and copious other sea life. We enjoyed meals at the lighthouse, kaibo upstairs ( excellent rum selections) also. Beware that when the cruise ships are in town Wednesday and Thursday when we were there things are a little hectic. I definitely advise enjoying stingray city and the barrier reef on days when the ships are not in port. The coral gardens is an excellent snorkel spot, the moray eel is amazing. All together we had an amazing visit, the house was perfect for us and we would definitely recommend it. Maybe I shouldn't say that so it's available the next time we come down. One item to note, definitely bring water shoes, lots of rocks off the back of the house, not an issue unless you don't have water shoes.

Heritage House is set in a quiet spot with beautiful snorkeling on its beach. The House itself is clean and easy to manage. The first floor porch is wonderful for meals when the wind is not blowing fiercely. If you want a more festive beach Rum Point is an easy walk.

The Heritage House was amazing! My husband, myself and another couple stayed at the Heritage House. The two master suites on separate floors worked out perfect for privacy. The pool on the road side of the house was a great addition to our enjoyment The beach in front of the villa was raked and clean the day we arrived and was cleaned halfway through our visit. Turtle grass and debris does wash up on this side of the island but we had no problems with it in front of the Heritage House. There were a couple of villas along the beach that no one was staying in and there was quite a bit of debris washed up on their beach. Not horrible but it did take away from the beauty of the area. Too bad the owners in that area can't start an association to clean the beaches. My husband and I snorkeled right off the beach in front of the villa. It was the best snorkeling I have ever done. We saw Sea Turtles, a Moray Eel, a Barracuda, and lots of other beautiful fish and coral. There are quite a few restaurants within a short distance of the villa, Rum Point Bar and Rum Point Restaurant (walking distance), Over the Edge (less than five miles), Kaibo Yacht Club (less than a mile), and my personal favorite is The Lighthouse Restaurant (about 10 miles). I highly recommend that you visit Starfish Point. We saw about ten starfish in knee deep water. We loved our stay at Heritage House and plan to return with our kids and their families.

Beach Description

The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming. Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear foot protection (pool shoes or fins). The prevailing breeze (trade winds) from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch.

The big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com ) It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky) Click map on our home page. Lastly…we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
