Beach Notes

The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east, so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman.

The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming. Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear foot protection (pool shoes or fins). The prevailing trade winds from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch.

The big draw to this area is the proximity to the Rum Point Club, a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach, many watersports, a restaurant bar & grill, a gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina

Lastly, we have two large resorts in the east end (Morritt's and The Reef) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, a Subway sandwich shop, and a cafe/pastry shop. These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfing, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service.

General Grand Cayman Beach Notes

All beaches in Grand Cayman are technically “public” since the Queen owns up to the high water mark and the shoreline quality behind your property may vary seasonally. Be advised that the beach or water entry behind your property may vary slightly from the images on our website because of the weather. The next-door beach is also always available for your use.

Ocean Debris & Sargassum Seaweed

Beaches in Grand Cayman may also experience floating ocean debris and sargassum weed seasonally. Sargassum is a generally harmless floating seaweed that has increased in frequency in recent years. Although sargassum is an unsightly nuisance, it is largely seasonal in summer. Our owners do make efforts to remove heavy sargassum and will have the beach raked prior to your arrival.

Should sargassum weed be extremely heavy behind your property, we will reach out to the owner for alternative solutions which may include a partial refund or relocation. We try our best to work around mother nature.

Grand Cayman Heritage House

The Heritage House was amazing! My husband, myself and another couple stayed at the Heritage House. The two master suites on separate floors worked out perfect for privacy. The pool on the road side of the house was a great addition to our enjoyment The beach in front of the villa was raked and clean the day we arrived and was cleaned halfway through our visit. Turtle grass and debris does wash up on this side of the island but we had no problems with it in front of the Heritage House. There were a couple of villas along the beach that no one was staying in and there was quite a bit of debris washed up on their beach. Not horrible but it did take away from the beauty of the area. Too bad the owners in that area can't start an association to clean the beaches. My husband and I snorkeled right off the beach in front of the villa. It was the best snorkeling I have ever done. We saw Sea Turtles, a Moray Eel, a Barracuda, and lots of other beautiful fish and coral. There are quite a few restaurants within a short distance of the villa, Rum Point Bar and Rum Point Restaurant (walking distance), Over the Edge (less than five miles), Kaibo Yacht Club (less than a mile), and my personal favorite is The Lighthouse Restaurant (about 10 miles). I highly recommend that you visit Starfish Point. We saw about ten starfish in knee deep water. We loved our stay at Heritage House and plan to return with our kids and their families.

Heritage House is set in a quiet spot with beautiful snorkeling on its beach. The House itself is clean and easy to manage. The first floor porch is wonderful for meals when the wind is not blowing fiercely. If you want a more festive beach Rum Point is an easy walk.

Wow! What an amazing place

We spent a wonderful week at the Heritage house and couldn't be more pleased. We arrived at the appointed check in time and the ladies were just completing their cleaning process, they do a great job. The house is well appointed as far as cookery and basic essentials. Rum point is literally a 5 minute walk down the road. The food at the restaurant is excellent, the bartenders were very attentive and a heavy pour which is ideal. The kids enjoyed the beach but also utilized the pool almost everyday. The snorkeling off the back is excellent, we encountered sea turtles, a lovely barracuda and copious other sea life. We enjoyed meals at the lighthouse, kaibo upstairs ( excellent rum selections) also. Beware that when the cruise ships are in town Wednesday and Thursday when we were there things are a little hectic. I definitely advise enjoying stingray city and the barrier reef on days when the ships are not in port. The coral gardens is an excellent snorkel spot, the moray eel is amazing. All together we had an amazing visit, the house was perfect for us and we would definitely recommend it. Maybe I shouldn't say that so it's available the next time we come down. One item to note, definitely bring water shoes, lots of rocks off the back of the house, not an issue unless you don't have water shoes.

Enjoyable week of relaxation in paradise!

We had 2 families of 5 staying in Heritage House. The space was very accommodating for our group. The house was great - the 2 verandas overlooking the beautiful ocean were our favorite places to hang out. The Master bedroom on the main floor would be better with improved lighting in the bathroom & shower. The snorkeling behind the house was unbelievable. We were fortunate to have calm seas and winds the first half of our stay. We saw an array of fish, including a barracuda and sea ray. The second half, strong winds kicked in and we were unable to snorkel with any success. The advice to have water shoes was good - you cannot walk into the ocean with bare feet. Though if you plan to only snorkel, the fins work fine. The beach had some rocky, coral spots but plenty of sand for the kids to play as well. The pool was a big hit with our 6 kids. The location is a bit distant from most things on the island - which has its pros and cons, so it just depends on whether you want to be close to lots of activities or stay put. There are 4-5 decent restaurants within a 5-20 minute drive. We highly recommend Kaibo Upstairs, which is a mile down the road - high end meal, but perhaps one of the best dinners we have ever had!

Wow! What a great time

We had the pleasure of staying at the Heritage House for a week at the end of april/beginning of May. The house is not centrally located to the the main part of the island, it is beautifully secluded on the North End of the island. We were within walking distance of Rum Point plus we could snorkel right off the beach at Heritage House. We traveled with our three adult children and their spouse or significant other. There were 8 adults in the house. Plenty of room for all of us. We would go back to Heritage House in a heartbeat. The pool out front was a plus. The weather was beautiful and the amenities were spectacular.

We had a great time at Heritage House. House is much nicer than the pictures..and the greatest appeal was the snorkeling right off the beach. Not a great beach to play on, but we were just a few houses from Rum Point and spent early afternoons there, then returned to our beach to snorkel. Water shoes would be nice, but we managed without and did just fine. Water was so clear and warm and the sealife was so spectacular! ( could have used an extra layer of sunscreen on the back !)Very quiet in August, but loved it! And the weather was great! A few storms came through but they never seemed to last long. We had a car and had originally planned to take advantage of the seven mile beach area, but found that we were happier just hanging around Rum Point! Used the Gym in Savannah and found that to be really nice as well. Kitchen had everything we needed 🙂 Beds and couches were VERY comfy. Only thing we would change is the length of the stay.. Definitely would add on a few days. Really amazing effort by the management team to get us in on 1 day\'s notice.. ( yes, truly) To the owners: Thanks for allowing us to stay in your home!!
Manager Response:

So glad it worked. Glad we could get all the moving parts together for your trip! Please come again!  --Scott

The house is located in easy walking distance to Rum Point and a short bike ride or car (~2 miles) from Star Fish Point. Having the pool on the front of the house means it gets afternoon sun and is out of the breeze. This is a well appointed home and easy to stay in.

The house was wonderful, very clean and in great shape. Loved the double balconies and comfy furniture outside. We spent a great deal of time out on the porches before the wind picked up. Also, paying extra for pool heat was a great option for us! We did water aerobics every morning, and then swam once we returned from the beach. Stingray City by private charter boat was a must see. We all had a great time!

We just got back from a week long stay at the Heritage House with a group of friends, and it was the most perfect location for a large-group vacation! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and there were a bunch of bathrooms which made getting ready for a large group very easy. The outdoor pool and back deck spaces (1st and 2nd floor decks) were our favorite parts. We used the pool everyday and ate every meal on the back deck that overlooked the ocean! We took a few trips to 7 Mile Beach (about an hour drive) and ate at some great restaurants (Veranda in the Marriott was a fav). We also walked over to Rum Point Beach a few days for some water activities (kayaking, paddle boarding), some food, and some island drinks! Highly recommend the Heritage House - great place to stay on Rum Point!

We had a wonderful week, grandparents, parents and grandchildren. The house was spacious, and afforded everyone privacy when desired. The view of the ocean was spectacular from the back porch. The snorkeling was excellent from the property, with the current helping to reach Rum Point. However, the beach was rocky, making access to deeper water difficult. The beach was also littered with debris. The snorkeling was a good distance from the beach, and only advisable for confident swimmers.
Manager Response:

The weather during your stay shifted from coming from the East to coming from the Nirth. That is unseasonable and rare. But when the winds come from the North, everything is pushed on land, higher waves and currents. We clean the beach before arrival. Had you reached out to the local manager, he would have sent someone over to collect the depris.

Wonderful Family Vacation!

The property was as advertised, with plenty of space, plus everything worked and the entire unit was very clean upon arrival. We used both porches as the sun and breeze dictated throughout the day. It was nice being able to do that. Plus there was plenty of hot water. That sounds minor but you would be surprised how many rental units, even pricier ones, want to limit hot water. The booking process was simple and straightforward with no surprises, and the deposit refund was processed in a timely manner. I would note VRBO fees seem to be getting a bit high so its good you itemize that for clients. I will consider more non-VRBO properties in the future if their fees keep going up. I contacted the on site manager just one time due to a plumbing leak at the pool pump and he helped remedy the situation. In terms of restaurants, Kaibo Upstairs was excellent, and the Rum Point restaurant was also very nice. Each had great food, service, and island ambiance, although Kaibo in our opinion is really one of the best restaurants on the island. Taxi service out there would be nice. Had it been available we would have also visited the Lighthouse, but we really don't like to drink and have to drive that far. All in all a nice trip and a very nice place to spend a week. We would consider it for a return visit in the future.
Manager Response:

Thank you for your comments. Guests can book directly on our website to avoid added fees other sites charge.

We had a wonderful time at Heritage House and highly recommend. Walk to Rum Point, short drive to Kaibo. And do not miss Starfish Point (go during the week as it was busy on the weekend). Dinners we loved BBQ at Kaibo, Rum Point, Tukka (twice even). Stingray charter was the fav of our trip and Silver Thatch Watersports charter was top of the line! Crystal Caves were really surprisingly nice and a great adventure... We will be back! George

Excellent location, friendly staff! Highly recommend this for your stay in Grand Cayman. The North Side of the island is quiet and clean, away from the noise and traffic of 7 Mile Beach. The water taxi 5 minutes from the house at Kaibo Marina will get you to Georgetown in 25 minutes and drop you off at the main shopping center. Highly recommended to avoid traffic and an hour drive back to the West Side. We\'ll be back!

Heritage House was a great location. The house is just as described and more. The upstairs balcony was perfect and our 1 yr old grandson was able to enjoy the full use of the balcony as the rails were code. (you don\'t find that everywhere) The deco was nice. The house had everything we needed. There was plenty of room for our family of 10, 9 adults and 1 child. The snorkeling in front of the house was wonderful - don\'t miss it. The private beach in front was very nice, the distance from Rum Point was just a perfect walk. The pool was very convenient and we enjoyed it just as much as we did the sea. Our one issue was the cats. I am mentioning this because we have a 24 yr old son SEVERELY allergic to cats. The cat hair was everywhere on the outside furniture. This house is priced right and was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay.

Our family consisting of 4 adult aged couples recently stayed at Heritage House from July 13 - 20 and we must say the house couldn’t have been more perfect for our family. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, while the pool, beach and porch areas encouraged family time together. The house itself was well stocked with everything needed to make dinners and drinks including two blenders for those Margaritas and Pina Colada’s. Everyone in our party truly loved the house including the quietness of the Rum Point area and the beautiful reef and marine life located no more than 50 feet off the beach of Heritage House. Renting through Grand Cayman Villas was an easy process and they delivered on all aspects of the agreement. We rented a boat for snorkeling and stingray city tour through Silver Thatch and couldn’t have been more pleased with the boat, Captain and the cost. We did have some last minute questions about items that would be provided and they were always answered timely and accurately. Our on-island property manager Roy was very attentive to the two request we had while staying at The Heritage House. The first request was the pool pump was knocked out by an overnight storm and Roy arrived almost immediately to determine the problem and had his pool guy there within an hour to fix the problem. The second request was made after-hours when the built-in microwave shut down. Roy was out again first thing in the morning to determine the problem and provided another microwave to limit our inconvenience. We would not hesitate to rent the Heritage House through Grand Cayman Villas on a return trip to the Island.

Heritage house was amazing. We arrived to a clean, and (thanks to booking agents help) a fully stocked kitchen. The house had everything we needed in the kitchen. They also had a nice assortment of beach towels. House has 2 washer and dryers which made it nice to keep up with wet swimming suits and towels for the whole group. Swimming pool at front of property was clean and had comfy lounge chairs. Great snorkeling from beach side. We dined at several places but nearby Rum Point, Kaibo and the Lighthouse were the favorites. There is a small grocery just down the road that had a nice selection of food items. We also booked charters for fishing and snorkeling with Silverthatch charters. Captain Joe and Captain George were outstanding. This house has everything for relaxing or using as a base for exploring Cayman Islands. Overall a great experience from ease of booking, getting access on arrival and just relaxing and having good time with family.

We had a private pool with deck chairs and a grill which we used every night. It was so nice to relax in the pool with drinks and music. The small beach in back had excellent snorkeling. We saw octopus, sting rays, barracuda etc.... It was amazing to go out your door and be able to see all these beautiful things. We took a snorkeling tour with Captain Joe and this guy truly made our trip an experience. He has a great sense of humor and good knowledge of the island and creatures that inhabit it. This was probably the best four hours we spent on our trip. The guys also did a fishing charter and caught numerous fish. They had an awesome time on that trip. Highly recommend. We were walking distance to Rum Point Beach. We, of course, had to do the jet ski tour. Those guys are so nice. Please remember to tip all of these people if you’re happy with the service, which I’m sure you will be!!! You have to try the Cuban sandwich at the little food bar there. There is also a little grocery store about five miles or so from the house. Has just about everything you’d need. We had a great time on our trip and we would definitely stay at this home again.

- The house was very nice, as advertised. It fit our group of eight adults very well. Having two laundry areas, one per floor, was especially nice. The location was good as we could easily walk to Rum Point or Kaibo Booking Process - Reserving, confirming, final payment, all details were transparent and readily understood. Property Manager - Ran was easy to work with, very responsive with direct answers to all three of my questions about activities. Fortunately, we had no issues with the property so we did not have any reason to get something fixed/corrected. Amenities/Activities/Restaurants - We rented Kayaks for the week, had a private boat taxi and snorkel/sting ray outing, went kiting at Barkers Beach, hiked every day, shopped in Georgetown one day, ate at Tukka and Morgans for evenings out. - All of these were as expected with great weather. The kayaks were used every day (Sunday through Friday). Having two snorkel sets at the house was great so we could go right out the door and enjoy the local reef easily. Having access to a private boat was our highlight/favorite.

The kitchen was well equipped and each bedroom had it’s on bathroom we really prefer our own space. We had the pool heated and enjoyed swimming and lounging by the pool. Having the pool in front blocked the wind and made it a great hangout space. It was a short walk to Rum Point our group always likes spending time there. The only thing we would change is having all king beds. Thanks for how well you took care of us. We’ll be back.

Heritage House is nice and there is ample room for 9 adults and there is an excellent supply of pots, pans, dishes etc. Having a washing machine and dryer on both floors (upstairs and downstairs) is a plus. Having 2 balconies overlooking the ocean was wonderful. Everyone we dealt with before, during, and after our visit were very pleasant and helpful. Silver Thatch was great. Thank you, Scott. The house is for sale. If I were looking at the property as a potential buyer, I would be concerned about the pavers surrounding the pool - the need to be repaired. I would be concerned that the bathroom in the downstairs bathroom has no hand hold, a flimsy shower curtain rod and no light. I would be concerned because the dishwasher is not installed correctly and the stove is not properly connected which causes it to move away from the wall. On the plus side,
Manager Response:

Thank you for your review.

Did you let thelocal manager know about the issues. They could have been corrected while you were there. I will have Roy check the pavers and dishwasher. There is a light in the bathroom - perhaps a bulb was out.

There are four couples who have been vacationing together for years and we love the Caymans which is our favorite vacation spot. Heritage house provided a great location and was well equipped for all of our needs from the kitchen to the beach. It was a comfortable house and very relaxing. Having the pool on the front side of the house was a great plus, due to the trade winds felt on the island. We also had the pool heated so we could enjoy swimming. We had an issue with the pools heater and within 15 minutes of my call someone was there and quickly corrected the problem. We spent a lot of time longing around the pool it had comfortable seating and there was enough for all of us. Having Rum Point within walking distance was also helpful because we enjoy hanging out there and grabbing lunch. The only two things we would suggest is take a look at the dryer it took a very long time to dry things and the mattress in the upstairs bedroom beside the master suite might need replacing. We will be returning because of the various places we\'ve stayed or looked at this was the perfect set-up for our group. We want to thank the owners for sharing their home with us.

Villa Cleaning & Sanitation

We're committed to the health and safety of all our guests and have adopted enhanced cleaning safeguards to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

All villas are cleaned and sanitized prior to each guest's arrival using health agency-approved cleaners and disinfectants. We also ask our owners to provide a starter supply of extra cleaning products.

Additional housekeeping services can be purchased after booking in 3-hour time blocks. Scheduling may be coordinated with your property manager upon arrival on-island.

Cancellation Policy

Relaxed Cancellation Policy on all bookings made after March 14, 2020.

1). Once guests signed rental contract is confirmed with 50% (of rent) deposit, should guest cancel in writing prior to 60 days of arrival, half of the initial deposit (25% of rent) will be refunded to the card on file, less a 3.50% processing/admin fee. Should villa owner be able to replace the reservation in whole or in part, the (prorated) un-refunded balance of the initial deposit will be returned less any re-booking costs incurred. Should the owner not be able to replace the reservation, the balance of the initial deposit is forfeited.

PANDEMIC/EPIDEMIC EXCEPTION: Should a declared Pandemic or Epidemic prevent reasonable travel options to the destination, the guest may cancel and the entire initial deposit will be refunded, less a processing/admin fee of 3.50%.

2). Once full payment has been made (or the 60-day mark has passed and the guest has not paid the balance), should guest cancel in writing, GCVC will refund any occupancy taxes, cleaning fees and refundable damage deposits to the card on file. The dates will be opened on the calendar for rebooking. Should the reservation be replaced in whole or part, the guest will receive up to 100% of monies paid less rebooking charges incurred. Should GCVC not be able to replace the reservation, rent and service fee will be forfeited; however, guest will receive a credit for 50% of rent paid to be used for a similar stay at the same property, taken within 13 months of the original date of arrival.

PANDEMIC/EPIDEMIC EXCEPTION: Should a declared Pandemic or Epidemic prevent reasonable travel options after full payment, the guest may cancel up until day of arrival and all payments will be refunded, less a 3.50% processing/admin fee.

HURRICANE WARNING EXCEPTION: Should a hurricane warning (not a hurricane watch) affect Grand Cayman's ability to welcome guests; the guest will have the option of rescheduling the trip with generous owner flexibility or a full 100% refund of all monies paid with no deduction.

We strongly advise the purchase of CSA trip interruption insurance to indemnify the risk of cancellation, weather delay, airline interruption, medical reason for non-travel, etc.

Please know that very few insurers will cover a declared pandemic.
