Fortunately, Grand Cayman avoided the wrath of Hurricane Irma. Other Caribbean islands weren’t so lucky and more storms appear to be headed their way once again.
The staff and villa owners at Grand Cayman Villas and Condos understand in a very up-close and personal way what it means to survive a storm like Irma. Hurricane Ivan decimated Grand Cayman in 2004. It was a category 5 hurricane with wind gusts over 200 mph. Ivan destroyed roads, houses, hotels, grocery stores, communities, and the livelihoods of thousands of people.
Our staff has been working overtime each day to relocate dozens of guests who lost their Caribbean vacation plans to Irma, many of whom are still anxiously waiting on word as to whether or not they will receive a refund for their canceled trips. Some folks have learned that there will be no refund due to an “act of God.” Some companies’ reservations are simply “non-cancellable for any reason.”
Our owner & company philosophy is to treat our guests the way we would like to be treated if the situation were reversed.
Our Hurricane Policy
If you have a reservation for a Grand Cayman Villas & Condos managed property, and the Government of Grand Cayman issues a Hurricane Warning, and you have NOT ARRIVED ON ISLAND:
- You may cancel your reservation and we will immediately issue you a full refund, or
- You may choose to reschedule your vacation at the same villa at a later date. Often the owners are overly accommodative and will even extend stays or offer higher-priced seasons.
If you are ALREADY ON ISLAND AND EVACUATE one of our managed properties due to an official Hurricane Warning:
- We will issue you a refund, pro-rated by the number of nights you’ve already stayed, or
- We will issue you a credit to return to the island at a later date (again, owners are very accommodative and some will extend generous offers).
Our Bottom Line
We give you options. We refund you quickly. It’s only fair. It’s the way we would like to be treated. #mygrandcayman
