In case you missed it, as of January 21, 2022, Phase 5 travel requirements require all fully-vaccinated travelers to take lateral flow tests (LFTs) while on-island. Testing is required on days 2, 5, and 7, if applicable.
So, if you arrive in Cayman on Mar. 6, you are required to test on Mar. 8, 11, and 13.
Not ideal, we know. But these are the parameters we must work by to keep the island safe and our borders open.
Don’t worry, we’re taking steps to ensure testing is as convenient as can be for our villa guests.
LFT Card + Silver Thatch
Upon arrival and clearing Cayman Customs, all travelers will be issued a Lateral Flow Testing Card. Keep it tucked in your passport at all times. You will also be given a directory of LFT testing sites across the island.
Now, rather than sending you to an LFT testing site miles away, in-town, and sitting in island traffic, we are hosting our own.
We are delighted to partner with Cayman Health City to provide daily LFT testing at our Silver Thatch Welcome Center. A majority of our villas are within a short 15-minute drive from Silver Thatch so no long drives into town.
Open exclusively for our villa guests, the Silver Thatch clinic runs from noon to 1:00 PM daily. Tests cost US$25 each and can be paid with most major credit cards.
Please note, if you miss the testing window at Silver Thatch you are still required to get tested elsewhere. Consult the directory of LFT testing sites given to you at Customs for the nearest location.
To expedite the testing process, villa guests are asked to pre-register via an online scheduling form in advance of their first test day. This will help clinic staff determine how many tests are needed and if more staff is required.
Download our Guide to LFT Testing at Silver Thatch with links to the online scheduling form.
On testing day, make sure you bring the following items before leaving your villa:
- Masks for everyone getting tested
- Your passport + LFT Card
- Credit card for payment; bring cash as a backup.
Arrive at Silver Thatch and check in with the clinic staff. They will slot you in on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tests are self-administered and provide a result within 10-15 minutes. Results are embossed with a notary stamp on the LFT Card.
Our goal is to provide a safe and convenient testing location that gets you in and out as quickly as possible. Hopefully, we won’t have to deal with LFT testing requirements for much of 2022. Fingers crossed.
