Cancellations are Almost Always Unexpected

Life has a way of throwing us curveballs.  Many of us have had an unforeseen issue present itself and force us to change our plans.   Vacations are no exception.

At Grand Cayman Villas and Condos we have a significant number of guests each year who, unfortunately, must cancel or reschedule their reservations.   I am not referring to hurricane cancellations.  I am referring, instead, to the everyday health, work and, family issues to which we are all susceptible.  The reasons may be varied but they all have one thing in common.  They were unexpected!

When searching for your accommodations on Grand Cayman, it’s important to look at the booking manager’s cancellation policy.  Like the title states, not all company policies are equal.

Our Grand Cayman Villas and Condos Cancellation Policy

Should you book your stay with Grand Cayman Villas and Condos and need to cancel your reservation more than sixty days prior to arrival, we automatically issue a refund for half of your deposit less the credit card fee we incurred to process your payment.   If we’re successful in replacing the reservation for the villa or condo, we refund your deposit less credit card fees incurred for the days replaced.   If we are unable to replace the reservation, the remaining half of the deposit is forfeited.

For cancellations within sixty days of arrival and/or full payment has been made, we will refund all taxes, fees and refundable damage deposits held. We will open the calendar and make every effort to find a replacement for the property.  If we are successful in finding a replacement, we reimburse you IN FULL, less any rebooking and/or credit card fees we’ve incurred for the days replaced.   Should we not be able to replace the reservation, the rental fee is forfeited, however, the property owner will credit you with 50 percent of the amount paid to be used for contracting the same property within 13 months of the cancellation date.

We strongly advise the purchase of CSA trip interruption insurance to indemnify the risk of cancellation or interruption due to death/illness, weather, airline delay, medical reason for non-travel, etc.

The Other Guys

Be aware that some villa booking managers have a no-refund policy for cancellations even if they replace the reservation.  We don’t think that’s fair.

Some managers also charge fees for each change made to a reservation confirmation.   We occasionally have guests who need to modify their reservations.  They may need to move their arrival up or back a day or change the number of guests. If the dates work for the owner, we move you and don’t charge a fee for doing so.
