An Evening Boat Cruise to One of My Favorite Restaurants
Here’s a great idea for anyone staying on the north side and east side of Grand Cayman! It’s something I try to do with my own guests every time I’m on the island and it’s always a big hit.
I make dinner reservations at one of my favorite restaurants, Calypso Grill, in Morgan’s Harbor (which is on the opposite side of Seven Mile Beach in West Bay)and hire a private charter to take us to and from the restaurant by boat. The boat picks us up at the Kaibo Yacht Club and we have a leisurely ride across the bay sipping cocktails to the other side of the island. We dock at Morgan’s Harbor and are then seated at a cute table on Calypso Grill’s outdoor patio. The interior of the restaurant is equally as charming and a nice option for seating, as well. Their wine list and menu are excellent and the wait staff is great. Clearly I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.
After dinner, we have a relaxing boat ride back to the Kaibo, gazing at stars and listening to good music.
If we aren’t too tired, we have after dinner drinks at The Kaibo Upstairs before heading back to our villa.
It’s always a wonderful evening and our guests reminisce about the experience long after vacation has ended.
Silver Thatch Charters is a new private charter business. The Australian captain, George, drives a brand new 27′ Boston Whaler that is very comfortable. He can take up to 10 people. There are a few others who offer similar services and Grand Cayman Villas and Condos guests receive a 10% discount for booking specifically with Silver Thatch Charters.
The Kaibo Yacht Club, The Lighthouse, Tukka, and The Rum Point Restaurant are such great dining options for North Side and East End folks. A private boat ride to Calypso Grill is just one more way of experiencing the island. One more awesome memory!
